In the past few years, IMR Hamburg has become a reliable partner to Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Africa on Kusile Project, which resulted with signing of a new contract for the work on Unit 3, worth over the 20 millions Euros.
Kusile Power Station in South Africa is a coal-fired power plant under construction by state electricity utility Eskom, about 15 kilometres north of the existing Kendal Power Station near Witbank, Mpumalanga.
Once completed, Kusile Power Station will consist of six units – each generating 800MW, adding a total capacity of 4 800 MW at completion – making it one of the largest coal-fired power stations in the world.
IMR Hamburg has been working on this project for the last three years expending scope of work on new units. The last contract for Unit 3 will include Labour Service and Management of the scope of works to install the Integral Pipework systems for Unit 3 of the Kusile Power Station Project.
IMR Hamburg will do turn-key installation and inspection on site of the HP Integral Pipe work systems of U3 as follow: Economiser, Evaporator, Reticulation Circuit, Super Heater System, Re-Heater System, HAJ – Large Bore, Pressure System, Steam Soot blowing System, HP Super Heater System, IP Spray System, Temporary line for Hydro Test and Steam Generator Drains System.
At the same time, IMR continues with an important role in the skill transfer to the local workforce. Our Mechanical Engineers, Welding, Piping, Boilermaker and Rigging Experts, train local employees, transferring to them knowledge and experience and helping South Africa to get new boiler makers, pipe fitters, riggers and welders
